The origins of Azienda Agricola Antonio and Elio Monti trace back to 19th century when the family began making wine on their property situated on the gently rounded hills of Controguerra.
The Monti family soon realized that although they made this wine only for private requirement, others also appreciated it. They saw in this success the chance to grow and reach a wider audience who also could enjoy their wines.
Monti’s vineyards lie on sandy clay soil and are planted with Montepulciano, Trebbiano, Cabernet, Chardonnay, Merlot, Sangiovese as well as the indigenous Pecorino and Passerina. It is from this impressive surrounding that the Monti brothers have overseen their wine production for over fifty years, from harvest to ageing.
Over the years, the already prestigious production has constantly improved thanks to technologies that are more sophisticated and to the valuable collaboration of wine consultants such as Riccardo Cottarella. This approach has diminished neither the influence of tradition nor the attentive and loving work of he two brothers.
The Monti brothers as well as the new family generation firmly believe that a well-made wine is a tradition that nobody will ever give up.
