From Monte Fanum (m. 960), an ancient Italic necropolis, the path leads into the heart of the “Monti della Laga”, near the small and picturesque village of Leofara. The first stop is the small village, now inhabited, of Valle Piola.
From here you go up to reach Pietra Stretta at 1500 m., where you run along the charming “Gole del Salinello”, that, with a narrow valley, divides in two parts the Twins Mountains (the Mountain of Flower and the Mountain of campli) and the legendary ruins of Castel Manfrino, a defensive tower built in 1263 on an ancient roman castrum because of the will of the king of Sicily.
The path ends at Leofara, in the municipality of Valle Castellana, where you can stay at the Hostel of Leofara, situated at more than 1000 m. on the sea level.
