Sky slopes of Prati di Tivo

 

Prati di Tivo

This skiing enclave is situated on the Teramo side of the Gran Sasso and Laga Mountain National Park, between beautiful panoramas and cities full of art. With the well known slopes and off slope tracks of Prati di Tivo and the mountain skiing of Prato Selva, the experience offered is varied and complete. Easily reachable from the quaint historic center of Pietracamela, the ski slopes of Prati di Tivo, the best known ski resort in the Province of Teramo, snake their way down the north side of the Corno Piccolo, the most striking peak of the Gran Sasso chain.

Easily reachable from the picturesque historic center of Pietracamela, the ski runs of Prati di Tivo, the most well known of Teramo province’s ski resorts, wind their way down the north side of the Corno Piccolo, the most imposing of Gran Sasso’s peaks. Accessible right from the parking lot at Prati di Tivo, at 1450 meters in altitude, there 6 ski lifts and a chair lift (which reaches 2000 meters at Arapietra) service over 20 km of ski runs, next to a cross-country ski track. The area, which is known for it’s hiking and trekking possibilities, has runs for skiers of all levels, both alpine and cross country, and between Prati di Tivo itself and the nearby Pietracamela there are 7 hotels ready for your enjoyment.

You can reach Prato di Tivo and surrounding area from the city of Teramo (40 km) and from the A14 Highway gate at Giulianova (58 km) by heading towards Montorio al Vomano. From L’Aquila you can pass through the Gran Sasso Tunnel and then Montorio (71 km) or by means of the Capannelle Pass and the state highway 80 (66km). The closest train station is in Teramo.

Prato Selva

Also, in the heart of the Teramo side of the Gran Sasso, practically next to the well known Prato do there is another rather interesting skiing enclave called Prato Selva. Located on Monte Corvo. With an altitude of 1.400 meters and particular wooded area, it offers skiing enthusiasts some of the longest runs in that area, in an untouched natural setting.

At the feet of the Monte Corvo woods, in the heart of Teramo’s side of the Gran Sasso, this small ski resort at 1400 meters of altitude offers skiing enthusiasts some of the longest runs of the mountainside. A chair lift climbs up to 1800 meters of Colle Abetone and it’s flanked by 3 ski lifts. There is a hotel at the end of the runs and another in the historical center of Fano Adriano. You can reach the locality from Teramo (39 km) and from the A14 Highway gate at Giulianova (57 km) by heading towards Montorio al Vomano. From L’Aquila you can pass through the Gran Sasso Tunnel and then Montorio (70 km) or by means of the Capannelle Pass and the state highway 80 (61 km). The closest train station is in Teramo.

Monte Piselli

Although it is only a short distance from Ascoli Piceno in the Marche region, this mountain is entirely within the Province of Teramo. The ski runs of Monte Piselli come down on the north side of the Montagna dei Fiori, which marks the boundary between the regions of Abruzzo and Marche. The chair lift and 3 ski lifts, accompanied by the 2 hotels in San Giacomo, service 5 km of ski runs. The base of the ski lifts, at 1105 meters of altitude, can be reached from Ascoli Piceno from Colle San Marco (17 km) or from Teramo following State road 81 and then Ripe (31 km). The closest train station is in Teramo.
