The village rises on the mountainside of the Gran Sasso d'Italia and hosts every year this characteristic traditional folklore event which involves float parades, exhibitions of folklore groups, a grape harvest song festival, art and crafts exhibitions and local wine and gastronomy specialties.

The montonico is a sparkling straw-coloured wine with green highlights; it has a soft, fresh and vivid taste which accompanies very well the delicacies of the Teramo traditional cooking.
