Nicodemi

On the rolling hills of the Town of Notaresco is the Nicodemi Property.

The winning intuition of the company has been being able to re-interpret it's tradition, that is being able to produce wine in a modern way.

In 1970 Bruno Nicodemi starts the land transformation program of his family properties. He develops the conviction to bring out the local vines of Montepulciano and Trebbiano d'Abruzzo. In the following years all the best adjacent properties are added to the family's holdings.

In the year 2000 the management of the business falls into the hands of Elena and Alessandro Nicodemi, children of Bruno, that give the company a new impulse in order to consolidate the wines they produce.

The company today has a total of 38 hectares in a large single group.

The 30 hectares dedicated to grape vines belong to the area of the d.o.c.g. Montepulciano d’Abruzzo Colline Teramane, the d.o.c. Montepulciano d’Abruzzo and the d.o.c. Trebbiano d’Abruzzo.

The land enjoys particular climate characteristics such as a south/southeast exposure, a tempered climate and an altitude of 300 meters above sea level.

The grapes are selected by means of manual harvesting and are then transferred to the modern and functional cantina where they are transformed into wine with long fermentation times in temperature-controlled conditions.

The elevated cantina is home both to the smaller French wood barrels containing 225 liters and the more traditional 2500 liter barrels where the red wines mature. The basement cantina is able to maintain the temperature and the level of humidity necessary to perfect the wines.
