It was created in 1986 in occasion of the 80^th anniversary of the foundation of the Art Institute; The collection was then gradually enriched by the creations of single artists and schools until it became necessary to create a specific functional structure to exhibit it, which was inaugurated in 1997.

With its 500 works executed by 350 artists coming from 50 different nations it is an actual exhaustive “showcase” for the world of ceramics as.

The phenomenological structure of the museum is very broad and ranges from experimental plastic works to objects. Furthermore, it documents a wide range of issues, which include professionally high qualified artistic work as well as the products of didactic work.

This collection was given the title of Museo Regionale (regional museum) and can be visited any time during school opening hours or upon reservation at the Istituto d'Arte.
