The Museum has been set up inside a complex of 17th-century buildings belonging to the Co-cathedral Chapter of Atri and restored with the help of the Minister for Cultural and Environmental Heritage.

It is made of three rooms:

  • The first is a tribute to the personality and work of the Engineer Vincenzo Rosati, director of the old Arts and Trades School of the Atri Orphanage
  • The second is dedicated to the Prehistory of the Abruzzo territory
  • The last is certainly the most suggestive because of the two undamaged burials excavated in the early 1900. Further objects found inside the 22 burials excavated in the necropolis of Atri, of Colle della Giustizia and of Pretara and belonging mainly to women and children can be dated at the first three quarters of the 6th century.
