The hike starts at Pietracamela (1000 Mt.). You’ll climb up the tight and winding streets of the village and you can make a brief stop at the Alpine Climbing Museum, at the climbing gym belonging to the “aquilotti del gran sasso” and at the rock paintings made by the artist Montauti.

After you begin your climb, you will pass the Enel water canal which you will follow to meet up with the Sentiero Italia and Terre Alte, flanking on your right, the Rio Porta river and then you’ll enter the forest. At Fonte Monache, you must take the Traje trail, up until Case Mirchigni. Afterwards you’ll cross a sheep pasture, distributed on various levels, you’ll cross a pit on the left side of the forest, you’ll climb a short uphill tract and you’ll meet up with an asphalt road (the Prati di Tivo Loop). Across Prati Bassi, in an area completely dominated by the Gran Sasso d’Italia mountains, you enter a path between 2 rows of beeches that accompanies you on a short uphill walk to the road (the high part of the loop) bringing you to the main square of Prati di Tivo (1450 mt)
