This little town has conserved its mediaeval structure and rises next to and ancient Roman settlement. Immersed in the woods and surrounded by mountains it is an ideal destination for nature lovers and the starting point for many excursions and itineraries leading form the “Selva” and the “Merletti”, peculiar rocks that look like stone embroideries to mysterious prehistoric basins excavated into the rock called “Grotta delle Fate”.
Winter sports lovers will also enjoy the well-known tourist resort of Prato Selva with its large and long ski slopes, three ski lifts and double chair lift, that runs over two kilometres to the Colle dell'abetone (at 1800 metres) where the little Church dell'Alpino stands.
Fonte della Cannalecchia is one of the beautiful sites of Fano Adriano and has been offering its wonderfully fresh water recognised for its therapeutic virtues since ancient times. Do not forget to visit the Church of S. Pietro that was built in 1335 on top of the remains of a Roman temple.
Cerqueto is a small hamlet rich in art, traditions and rupestrian sceneries, where the Roman style Church of S.Egidio Abate, the Rione Castello and the folklore museum can be visited. Worth mentioning is the animated crib that involves each year all members of the community in a suggestive representation that counts among the most important of our region.
