The church is at the entrance of the tiny and suggestive mountainous village of Padula, at almost 1,000 meters. It was erected in the 15th century and restored in different occasions between the 18th and 19th century. In 1988 the church was proclaimed Shrine of Madonna of Monti della Laga.
When the simple exterior façade was rebuilt, the high bell tower was erected by it. The only nave of the church ends with an apse and two transepts. It keeps the remains of a sixteenth-century fresco, gilt wooden Baroque altars and a wood pipe organ.
