Castel Castagna (Castrum Castanee), fortified in the late Middle-Ages, stands in the heart of the ancient Valle Siciliana and of a ravishing scenery spreading from the Gran Sasso to the Laga, over the Montagna dei Fiori and the Montagna di Campli up to the Massif of the Majella.
Several ancient palaces with 14th-to18th-century stone portals remain undamaged and the church of Santa Maria di Ronzano, a wonderful example of Apulian Roman art style, is a must for lovers of Roman art.
The Parish Church of San Pietro Martire, situated in the historical centre is worth seeing as it dates from the 14th century, was restored in the 16th century and has a remarkable Renaissance art style stone portal.
